Desert Daze Styled Shoot

If there is one thing that I speak truly about being a professional photographer, it is that you should never stop learning…EVER. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been a photographer for 10 days or 10 years. You should never stop learning. Take that ego and leave it at the doorstep, because nobody wants that attitude. Every successful photographer that I know, takes workshops and have mentor sessions. Every year I take part in going to workshops, having mentoring sessions and involving myself in “shoot-outs.” I even host one workshop a year. Being a part of styled shoots is a major blessing for me. It allows me to be more creative for the new wedding years to come. During my off months, I tend to need a little “refresh” creatively. So I take advantage of the “off months and learn from the greatest artists. I don’t ever want to be bored with my job, so I keep busy on that.

This styled shoot hosted by Laura Murray Photography and Janna Brown Design Co. was a dream to be a part of. I mean they are brilliant! I also met some awesome friend photographers during the fun shoot-out in the desert. I needed something different in my portfolio and I wanted to shoot direct sunlight and play around with it because it can be difficult to shoot during a wedding. I was always okay at it but I was never that impressed with my outcome….and omg, a little bit of questions and tweaks did it for me! I have new eyes now when it comes to direct sun. YAY! So it was great to learn and shoot in the desert with some amazing talented people, beautiful flowy fabrics and lush florals. It was literally such a dream and I’ve been dying to blog this shoot for the longest time! Enjoy these images.
